I had a great week home with the kids last week. We were sad that daddy wasn't home with us, but we still seemed to enjoy ourselves. We went and visited both the great Grandma's. We don't see them often, so it was wonderful to have some extra time to spend with them. Most of the week we spent playing around the house. On one of the warmer days we went to the farm and saw the new piglets that were just born. Erin was in town for a couple of days with Will and Emerson. It was fun to get the kids together. Jackson and Aubrin were excited to pull out some of our "baby" toys and show them how to play with them. We celebrated our niece Tessa's 2nd birthday and our niece Cassidy's baptism. As always, the kids had a great time running around and being silly with their cousins. Aubrin has had such a burst of language this week. She is saying many new words. She also went on the potty this week. Big Girl!!!! I loved that I got to take Jackson to school and pick him up. It's the little things when I'm working that I miss.
We had a great time at Splash Village. We went with our good friends Eric and Mary and their boys, Camden and Nolan. I remember taking Jackson to Splash Village a couple months before Aubrin was born. We were there for 30 minutes and left. It's safe to say that this trip was much more successful. The kids had a great time playing in the water and going down the slides. Jackson loved playing basketball at the pool and going down the dark tunnel slides with his daddy. Aubrin liked floating in the lazy river and walking around exploring the pool area. She did go down a couple water slides, but she didn't really like them. She liked checking out all of the other kids in the pool. This was the first experience for the kids to stay in a hotel. They did great! They were excited to wake up early and go back to the pool.
Happy Valentine's Day! When the kids woke up on Valentines Day they had to go on a heart hunt through the house. They had to find all of the cut out hearts that were hid in the house. Then we all enjoyed a yummy breakfast together with heart shaped waffles. We hope everyone enjoyed the day with the ones you love!!!!
On Thursday Jackson had his Happy Hearts party at school. There was much to do to prepare before his big day. Jackson made all of his friends in his class Valentine cards. He and Aubrin spent time painting them a couple days before the party. Jackson wrote a "J" on each card and I wrote the rest of his name. He was so proud of his letter writing. Jackson also helped me put all of the the chocolate covered pretzels we made into bags to hand out at the party. At the party his teachers Mrs. Katie and Mrs. Debbie had so many fun things for the kids to do. Jackson painted, strung beads, frosted a cookie and a lot more. I love going to school with Jackson and watching him interact with his friends and his teachers. When his teacher Mrs. Katie was going around saying good morning to everyone, I found out a fun fact about Jackson. When she got to Jackson she said, "Good Morning Jackson." His reply was " It's Jack, remember." He no longer wants to be called Jackson at school.
This weekend we had a visit with Lollipop the bunny. My friend Ben from school has a rabbit as a class pet and let us borrow her for the weekend. Jackson thought she was wonderful. As soon as she came in the house he was just taken with her. Todd and I did have to explain that she didn't belong to use and I had to take her back to school. Jackson was excited to touch her, help fill her food and water and read books to her. And of course being a three year old little boy- he was really excited to watch her poop. The thrills of being three. Aubrin on the other hand wouldn't go into the kitchen by herself for most of the weekend. She wanted to touch her, but was very nervous and would attempt to do it crying and giggling at the same time. By the end of the weekend Aubrin was starting to feel a bit more comfortable. We hope Lollipop can come back for another visit.
Today Jackson was child of the day at school. He has been very excited for today to come. It started with going to Meijer on Monday to pick out the perfect snack to share with his friends. After being in the store for 45 minutes Jackson decided on a mixture of pretzels and goldfish, along with apples and milk~ sounded delicious! Last night we spent time putting snacks in baggies, washing apples, and counting napkins and cups. Before bed he had the big decision of what he was going to take for show and share time for his big day. He finally settled on his big red barn and stuffed as many of the animals as he could inside. This morning he woke up and first thing he said was "I'm child of the day today." He was very eager to go to school with his barn and snacks in hand. He had a great time at school sharing with his friends and reading a special book to the class with his teacher Mrs. Katie.
Colds have hit the Miller house. Aubrin and Jackson just can't seem to shake the runny noses and coughs. We have been spending a lot of time at home trying to get healthy and some energy back. Aubrin has fallen in love with the game Elefun. She has such a belly laugh running around the living room trying to catch all of the butterflies. Jackson has been practicing writing his letters and patterning games on his computer. Jackson has really taken an interest in letters and words. He is always asking what things say. He also thinks it's really fun to find letters in books that are in his name. He is such a little sponge right now.
