Over the Break

We had such a great holiday break together at home. Besides the "holiday stuff" we kept it pretty simple around the Miller house. With the big snow we got this past week, we were able to get out and sled almost every day. Our backyard and on the golf course has great hills. We didn't have to go too far. We also got a call from our neighbor telling us he made a luge in his backyard. So we headed over and sure enough he made a luge for the kids (and adults). All of the kids had a great time as did the adults. Derek build a fire and had a few beverages for the adults as the kids sled into the evenings. Have I mentioned before how much I love our neighbors?!?
We also spent a morning bowling with some of the neighbors. It was a warmer way to spend some time together rather than freezing outside.

We played a lot of games, watched movies and just hung out. It was a great way to spend our time off of work and school. Aubrin was so excited to finally watch the movie Brave. She started watching with her Brave dress on, bow and arrows on her back and holding her doll, but she shed most of it to get comfy under the covers.
Back to work and school it is for us. I'm hoping that the new year brings us many new memories. I'm hoping that we can all slow down a bit and try to keep life simple.

Happy New Year!

The past couple of years we have stayed home for New Years Eve and spent the evening celebrating with our neighbors. This year was no different. All of us like to stay close to home, so ordering dinner in and everyone can walk home was just the ticket. Although this year we also invited the Thompson family. Jackson and Aubrin were both thrilled to hear that Aidan and Reagan would be spending the evening with us. Todd and I were equally as thrilled that Curt and Kelly were coming. It was a pretty simple night. We ordered food in, played games and just chatted. The kids had a great time doing a little night time sledding, watching movies, playing games and eating A LOT OF JUNK FOOD!
We did a white elephant gift exchange this year. I have to say that I now have enough tea light candles for the rest of my life in a variety of colors. It's always a great laugh to see how other peoples trash can become your new treasure.
Most everyone left before midnight. The Thompson family stayed and celebrated the new year with us. The kids all made it to midnight, although Aubrin and Reagan were slowing closing their eyes. When the countdown started we all grabbed our poppers and hugs all around. The kids had a great time with confetti flying everywhere and blowing their noise makers. After we had a champagne toast. The kids liked drinking out of their fancy champagne glasses:)

We all got into bed at 1:00am. It was a wonderful night for all. Here's to a wonderful 2013.
