Every so often Jackson will do something and it makes me smile because it reminds me so much of myself. The other day it was clear to me that he is for sure my child. I remember spending hours in the kitchen preparing "delicious" drinks for my family to try. I would mix any condiment I could find in the refrigerator with Kool-aid and make everyone try it.
For a couple of months Jackson has been telling me about making a mothers cake. He wasn't sure what was in it, but he seemed very confident that it would be great. On Tuesday night I gave in and we made the mothers cake. Ingredients needed:
1. Flour
2. Sugar
3. Water
4. 2 Eggs
5. Sprinkles
6. Grapes- they will melt and turn into juice

Jackson let Aubrin help add the ingredients. He was very serious while making this and kept measuring different amounts. He then got a pie tin and poured it in. We put it in the oven and let it bake for 40 minutes on 350 degrees. Jackson and Aubrin both watched it cook through the oven window.

He kept asking if we were so excited to eat it. I asked him where he learned about this kind of cake and he said, "Grandma Olenech told me about it." I told him that I was going to call grandma and thank her for such a great recipe and he said, " Oh, don't call her. She wouldn't be happy if I told her secret." Once the cake was done we let it cool and cut a slice for each family member. We all sat down at the table and took a bite. Jackson stopped chewing and said, "This is gross. Next time we should make a cake out of a box." We all took a little bit and agreed that it was not very yummy.
The cake was not very good, but the effort was priceless.
