Todd and I can hardly believe that Jackson has finished preschool. Today was his last day. Jackson has seemed a bit anxious for this day for a while. On one hand, Jackson is more than thrilled to know that he will be going to kindergarten next year. On the other hand, he also knows that a few of his good friends that he has been with for two years will be going to other schools. Jackson has been asking me for about a month if school is almost over. When I would tell him yes, he would say he was feeling sad because he would miss many of his friends, especially his good friend Julianna. Jackson has been taken with this little girl since the first day of preschool two years ago. He already has their wedding planned right down to what they will be eating for dessert at the reception~ Popsicles and cupcakes.
The parents were invited to the last hour of class today. I was able to take the morning off and Todd was able to slip out of work for a bit as well. When we got their all of the kids were waiting outside for us. They each wrote their name on the sidewalk with chalk. It was their official sign out of preschool. Then we went inside and the kids sang a few songs, read a book together as a class that they had been reading and also presented the summer birthday kids with their crown and certificate. After we watched a slide show of the year. Todd looked at me and said, "Are you already crying? The slide show hasn't even started yet." It was a great show put to music. As the kids had their snack, it was nice to visit with the parents that I have become friends with over the past couple of years.
As we were leaving Jackson gave Mrs. Katie and Mrs. Debbie huge hugs and said "I will come and visit next year when you have my little sister Aubrin." I have enjoyed having both of these ladies in our lives and feel that they did a great job teaching, loving and supporting our little guy with his first school experience. Goodbye preschool, hello kindergarten...
