Our Family Run

When Caryn called and said that she organized a fundraiser for Autism Speaks through her sorority, we excited to be part of it. When we got to Albion we met at a park where there were crafts for the kids, snacks and a lot of people joining together for a great cause. Todd's mom and dad were there as well as Ted.
When we started the race we were all walking at a nice pace and all of the sudden Jackson said, "Let's go" and away he and Todd went. Aubrin, Kaye and I continued to walk and chat. It was nice time for me to catch up with Kaye and enjoy the beautiful fall morning. Not to far into the race Aubrin fell asleep. She ended up sleeping almost the whole 3 miles.
Jackson was a crack up. He would run for a while and then stop and stretch. He said he didn't want to hurt his muscles. As Jackson was getting near the finish line he looked back, gave a smile and was getting ready to put on a good show...that's right, Jackson dove head first over the finish line as everyone was cheering him on. As we crossed the finish line Aubrin woke up and was ready for the after race festivities. As we were waiting for others to finish, the kids painted pumpkins and had a snack. When Caryn was announcing the winners for each age group she called Jackson's name for winning the 12 and under group. Jackson was so excited. He was a bit shy walking up to get his award, but Grandma Miller was with him. To add to the excitement, as Caryn was announcing more winners she called out Todd's name for winning his age group. If only they would of had a "best sleeping" award for Aubrin we would have been all set. Jackson was more than thrilled that he and daddy had matching "prizes".
Jack and Aubrin seemed very excited to have Grandma and Papa all to themselves for a couple of hours. We were so proud of Caryn for putting together such a wonderful event and raising awareness for Autism.
